UNION  COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced Tuesday that Daniel J. Bible, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of reckless homicide in connection with the fatal I-57 crash.

Bible, who lived at 401 Appleknocker Street in Cobden, Ill., faces a maximum sentence of ten years in prison. A sentence hearing has been set for September 20 at the Union County courthouse in Jonesboro, Ill.

Bible was indicted in April after a March 23 traffic crash on Interstate 57 that resulted in the death of an Anna man.

He was taken into custody on April 15 in Marion by Marion police and Illinois State Police. He is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail on $150,000 bond.

ISP reminds drivers to use caution as school starts

ISP reminds drivers to use caution as school starts

UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Illinois State Police would like to remind drivers that classes will be starting soon and that means an increase of vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic near schools.

According to ISP, drivers should focus on driving and limit distractions while driving, especially near a school. They should be on a lookout for school buses and be prepared to stop at the appropriate time and place when school buses are loading or unloading children.

They say it is also against the law to talk on a cell phone while driving through a school zone.

Police say troops will be conducting enforcement activities throughout the school year in and around schools to take care of unsafe driving.
