Anna swimming pool to open May 28

ANNA, IL (KFVS) - The swimming pool in Anna will be opened Monday, May 28.

The City says it will be closed for Fourth of July.

Public Swim

Sunday-Saturday 1:00pm-5:00pm
Sunday-Saturday except for Thursdays-$3.00 for three years old & up
Thursday is Dollar Day
Passes: $25.00 for 10 sessions (available at the pool)

Lap Swim

Monday-Saturday 12:00pm-1:00pm & 5:00pm-6:00pm
(No lap swim from 5:00pm-6:00pm on 6/6, 7/10, 7/17, and 7/28 due to swim meets)
(No lap swim from 12:00pm-1:00pm on 6/23 due to swim meet)

Private Parties

Sunday-Saturday 6:00pm-7:50pm and 8:00pm-9:50pm
$125.00 for less than 50 people
$150.00 for more than 50 people
(must be booked in advance)
(Parties not available 6/6, 7/10, 7/17, and 7/28 due to swim meets)

5KFVS celebrating 5 years, share your race pictures with us!

The 5KFVS Run/Walk is coming up! It will be May 18 in downtown Cape Girardeau, Mo.

This year, to celebrate the 5th year, we're adding a 12K!

Have you ran the 5KFVS, or even ran all five years? We want to see your photos from past events!

We'll share the pictures online and possibly on-air!

Hospice of Southern Illinois chosen as finalist 'Grow St. Louis' program

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (KFVS) - Hospice of Southern Illinois has been chosen as finalist in Monsanto, Grow St. Louis program.

On Monday, May 6, Hospice of Southern Illinois Hospice was selected as a finalist in the Monsanto, Grow, St. Louis program.

Organizers say the program offers not-for-profit organizations grant money up to $20,000.

28th Annual Fishing Expedition for Special Populations held at Bleyer Lake

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The 28th Annual Fishing Expedition for Special Populations was held Wednesday, May 8 at Bleyer Lake.

More than 1,300 Special Population youngsters and adults, volunteers, and staff lined the shores of Bleyer Lake for this event. They spent the day fishing and were provided a picnic lunch. All of the fishing equipment is provided free of charge to the participants.

Bleyer Lake is located 1.5 miles south of Midland Inn, just off Country Club Road.

The participants came from southern Illinois schools and sheltered workshops in Jackson, Williamson, Union and other surrounding counties.

The event began at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m.

Volunteers for the Fishing Expedition helped participants with their fishing equipment, baited fishing hooks and encouraged their efforts.

Before the event, Carly O'Keefe caught a fish to get them ready for the kids.

28th Annual Fishing Expedition for Special Populations May 8

(KFVS) - The 28th Annual Fishing Expedition for Special Populations is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 at Bleyer Lake.

Bleyer Lake is located about 1.5 miles south of Midland Inn, just off of County Club Road.

Over 1,300 special population youngsters and adults, volunteers and staff will line the shores of Bleyer Laek for this event. They will spend the day fishing and will be provided a picnic lunch. All of the fishing equipment is provided free of charged to the participants.
