RiseUp Christian Coalition's Walk for Unity to be in Alto Pass April 20

UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The RiseUp Christian Coalition's Walk for Unity will end up at the Bald Knob Cross of Peace in Alto Pass on Saturday, April 20.

The coalition is a nonprofit organization that is currently forming. They say their goal is to reach, unite and build up Christians of all ages by building relationships with one another, their church, their community and their country.

The group began The Walk for Unity in Illinois on Good Friday at South Belloit, Ill. and will travel roughly about 373 miles to the Bald Knob Cross. Jeremy Leisky and JaCory Taylor will be carrying a cross down Illinois and the event will be open for other people to join in and carry the cross.

The walk will take around 20 days with breaks in between. It works by using two-person teams. One person carrying the cross and one in the chase vehicle.

Anyone interested in carrying the cross can contact them on their Facebook page or e-mail them at riseupcc@gmail.com.

'One for the Cross' event Palm Sunday to beneft Bald Knob Cross

'One for the Cross' event Palm Sunday to beneft Bald Knob Cross

ALTO PASS, IL (KFVS) - The event ‘One for the Cross’ started four years ago when the then current board of directors thought of a day of prayer for the Bald Knob Cross organization, as well as the physical structure and grounds all of which had seen better days.

With the Easter sunrise service being an annual tradition since the 1930s, organizers decided to make Palm Sunday (March 24 this year) the day they would ask churches and other groups in the Heartland to make a special point to keep the Bald Knob Cross in focus. That is how the ‘One for the Cross’ campaign started. What would happen, they asked, if every Christian in the area gave just one dollar in support of the Cross?

This campaign, along with many others, helped raise the funds necessary to completely and totally restore the Bald Knob Cross structure.
