Anna man charged with possession of child porn | Crime

ANNA, IL (KFVS) - Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced Tuesday, January 29 that an Anna man has been charged with child porn possession.

Benson T. Poirier, 33 from rural Anna, was charged with two counts of aggravated child pornography, one count of being a Class X Felony and one count being a Class 2 Felony; and five counts of child pornography, all Class 3 Felonies.

Poirier is alleged to have had pornagraphic computer images of children under the age of 13 and children under the age of 18. The offenses took place at his home in August 2012.

According to Edmonds, Poirier was arrested Tuesday after an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Illinois State Police. Poirier is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro on $300,000 bond. A date for First Appearance has not yet been set.

Edmonds says Poirier was previously indicted in November by a Union County Grand Jury on five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, all Class X Felonies, and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, all Class 2 Felonies.

Poirier is alleged to have committed acts of sexual conduct with children under 13 years of age between 2005 and 2012. That case is set for a pre-trial conference on Feb. 19 at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
