UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced Tuesday he will be seeking a second term in office.

He says some of his accomplishments during his term include:

  • Increased felony filings, felony dispositions and Department of Corrections sentences as compared to the averages of the past decade
  • Partnered with Sheriff and County Clerk to implement an election monitoring program to protect voting rights and ensure integrity of the election process
  • Implemented a new domestic violence and juvenile initiative to help victims overcome the cycle of abuse and violence in the home
  • Required all drunk drivers to attend Victim Impact Panel presentation by individuals who have lost family members in DUI-related crashes

Edmonds was elected to a four-year term as Union County State's Attorney in November 2008. He grew up in Union County and graduated as co-valedictorian of his class at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. Edmonds attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated with a degree in political science. He then earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School.

He lives in Anna and serves on the Board of Directors of Rural Health and the Board of Directors of the Hospitality House in Vienna.
