Man accused of Ware arsons appears in court | News

JONESBORO, IL (KFVS)- A Union County man accused of arson made his first court appearance Thursday.

A Judge read through the charges against 19-year-old Corey Iman of Ware and appointed the teen a lawyer to represent him.

Iman faces five counts of arson in total. Three of those counts are Aggravated charges which hold a sentence of 6-30 years in prison.

State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds says the three aggravated counts are more severe because the homes or structures Iman is accused of setting fire to had people inside of them.

The first fire in January destroyed the home in which Iman, his brother, mother and step-father live. Court documents allege his brother, Daniel Hancock was in the home when the fire was set.

The second fire, just a day later damaged Iman's uncle's home, and court documents allege the uncle, Robert Pullium was inside at the time.

The third aggravated arson charge stems from an incident in which a camping trailer with Iman's mother, Carol Hancock, inside, was set ablaze.

Two other arson charges stem from fires at another home and a camping trailer.

Iman will appear again in court April 10 for a preliminary hearing.
