(KFVS)- Check out these Fourth of July events in the Heartland!
Oran, MO: The Oran July 4th Picnic to feature fireworks, food and games. A buffet-style dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It costs $9 for all-you-can-eat, children six to 12 are $4 and under six are free. The music entertainment will feature Classy Chassy Leroy & Becky from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and The Caney Creek Band from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Learn more.
Bloomfield, MO: The Bloomfield Firefighters Association has been collecting donations to fund the annual fireworks celebration on July 4. The association has met its goal and will host the show. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. at the city park. The City of Bloomfield, Mo. is not allowing individual fireworks but the city display will be held.
Blodgett, MO: The city of Blodgett will have a 4th of July Festival at the city park starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
The festival will include live bands, dunking booth, several activities for the family and a firework celebration.
Cape Girardeau, MO: USA Veteran's is sponsoring a demolition derby and fireworks show at Arena Park on July 4. The demolition derby begins at 6 p.m. with the fireworks to follow around dusk. It costs $10 to get into the grandstands for the demolitions derby. Parking costs $2.
Jackson, MO: The city of Jackson's Independence Day celebration will be from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Jackson City Park. See the full schedule.
Iron County, MO: The fireworks display at the Fort Davidson Historic site has by canceled.
Farmington, MO: The mayor of Farmington says the fireworks show is still planned for the 4th of July. However, if the National Weather Service upgrades drought conditions, then the fireworks show could be banned.
Fredericktown, MO: The fireworks display in Fredericktown has been canceled. However, the city still plans to have the rest of the July 4th celebration. That includes an anvil shoot, a petting zoo, a large water slide, a dunk tank, and a performance by the band Gravity. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m. on July 4 with the anvil shoot followed by the Boy Scouts presenting the flags and the singing of the national anthem. Gravity will take the stage at around 4:30 p.m.
Ellington, MO: The fireworks display on July 4 for Ellington, Mo. has been canceled until a later date according to the fire chief.
Perryville, MO: The 4th of July fireworks show has been postponed due to several burn bans in the area. The Perryville Rotary (that provides the funding for this event) and the Perryville Fire Department discussed the scheduled 4th of July fireworks show extensively. They have elected to postpone The fireworks show to a, as yet, undetermined date. Multiple counties surrounding and including Perry County have issued burn bans. Several other cities have postponed their shows. The fire danger scale currently lists us at "extreme" which is the highest threat for fires. Unfortunately, it is just too dangerous. This was a difficult decision and both of these groups have shown great leadership in putting safety first.
Piedmont, MO: The fireworks show in Piedmont that was scheduled for the 4h of July has been canceled due to dry conditions. The chamber decided to cancel the annual show usually held at the high school field. The fireworks will now open the fall festival in October.
Poplar Bluff, MO: There will be a fireworks show at the Butler County Fair. The fair is from July 4-14. The fireworks show will be at 9 p.m. on July 4.
Dexter, MO: The July 4th city firework display has been canceled.
Kennett, MO: According to the fire chief, the fireworks for July 4 in Kennett, Mo. has been canceled until a later date.
East Prairie, MO:
- Elm Street Baptist Church Party on July 3rd on the Main Street parking lot
- Street Dance July 3rd at 9 p.m. on Main Street
- July 4th - Parade line-up at 9:30 a.m. at Doyle School
The parade will be at 10:30 a.m. in Downtown East Prairie
- Fireworks display at 9 p.m. on July 4. The location has been moved to the industrial park just west of town off of Hwy. 80.
Wappapello Lake, MO: There will be the Waterfest and Fireworks show at Lake Wappapello over the weekend before the 4th of July.
Malden, MO: Malden is not having a fireworks display this year.
Steele, MO: The public is invited to attend a fireworks display on July 4 at 8 p.m. at the Joe Saliba Park.
Van Buren, MO: The downtown commercial fireworks display at the river scheduled for the 4th of July has been canceled and will now be held on the Labor Day weekend instead.
Carbondale, IL: The Fourth of July Fireworks display has been canceled according to the Carbondale Police Department.
Murphysboro, IL: The City of Murphysboro and Murphysboro Park District has made the difficult decision to cancel the annual 4th of July fireworks display due to extreme dry dangerous conditions. Optional dates are being discussed including the possibility of Labor Day weekend.
Equality, IL: The Village of Equality will continue to have its fireworks display on July 4. The display was previously canceled due to dry conditions, but recent rain allows the village to continue.
Anna, IL: The 4th of July fireworks display has been canceled. No word on if it will be rescheduled.
Herrin, IL: The 4th of July fireworks have been canceled. The fire chief says fireworks will be rescheduled on a later date.
Marion, IL: The Southern Illinois Miners fireworks at Rent One Park have been rescheduled.
- Tuesday, July 3 – The fireworks show will be rescheduled on another Two for Tuesday after the ban is lifted;
- Wednesday, July 4 – The fireworks show is tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, August 11th;
- Thursday, July 5 – The fireworks show will be rescheduled on another Extreme Theme Thursday after the ban is lifted.
On these three nights (July 3rd, 4th & 5th) the Southern Illinois Miners will allow fans to go onto the field following the game with their families to join the Miners players and watch a fireworks show synchronized to music on the video board. We will continue to offer the military discount for each of these three games.
Fans who already purchased their tickets for any of these three games may use their tickets for the game or they may exchange them for the rescheduled fireworks games once the new dates are established, subject to availability.
Metropolis, IL: Harrah's Metropolis will present its annual fireworks display in celebration of Independence Day at dusk (around 9 p.m.), in participation with Ingram Barge Company. No fourth deck activities are planned following the show. Spectators can view the fireworks from various locations in Metropolis, including the parking area behind Harrah's at 1st and Metropolis Streets, the river banks or patrons can visit the fourth deck of the casino to see the fireworks on full display.
Goreville, IL: According to the Fest Committee, Goreville Freedom Fest fireworks and evening concert series has been postponed. All other Freedom Fest activities will go on as scheduled. The evening concert series and fireworks will be rescheduled to join, Goreville's Schools Fall Festival which will be held in October.
Grand Tower, IL: A water slide will be set up at Devil's Backbone Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $10 per child for the day. There will be a washer tournament beginning at noon by the bingo shelter. The entry fee is $5 per person. There will be two person teams. Bingo will be at the bingo shelter from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. It's a quarter for each game played with 50 percent payback to the winner of each game. Pat's BBQ will sell food throughout the day. There will be a DJ from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the basketball shelter. T-shirts, glow necklaces, and 50-50 tickets will be sold. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. after a flag presentation.
Mt. Vernon, IL: Salute to Freedom is a program that will be held at the Mt. Vernon Airport at 5 p.m. The fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m. Even though there is a burn ban there they will put this on, but they will discuss before the fireworks part whether to cancel the display show if the drought conditions progress. It will be put on by Central States Firework Incorporated.
Carterville, IL: The fireworks in Carterville has been postponed until September 8 after the crowing of the Fairfield Queen. However the parade is still on.
Harrisburg, IL: Due to the extreme dry weather, the Harrisburg Lions Club has canceled the fireworks at the Saline County Fairgrounds. The Lions Club is considering a rescheduled date in September.
Paducah, KY: The Paducah Fire Department, Police Department and Paducah Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting a Summer Safety Festival for the residents of Dudley Court Apartments. The apartments are located at 801 McGuire Avenue and the festival will be Monday, June 25 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. They say anyone is welcome to attend the festival. Learn more.
Hickman, KY: The City of Hickman (Kentucky) has canceled its fire works display on July 4, 2012, according to the fire chief. The county burn ban does prohibit the firing of personal fire works.
