Ill. ranked 5th in nation for best corporate locations | News
ILLINOIS, KFVS- Governor Pat Quinn has announced that Illinois is ranked 5th in the nation for new and expanded corporate facilities.
Illinois moved up two spots from last year, according to an analysis done by Site Selection magazine, one of the nation's top corporate real estate and economic development publications.
In 2012, the state had 322 corporate facilities locate or expand.
"More and more companies are choosing Illinois to invest and grow their business," Gov. Quinn said in a press release. "I'm committed to advancing Illinois' competitiveness and using every tool at my disposal to expand business headquartered in our state and encourage others to locate and do business here."
To be part of the rankings, three qualifications must be met:
- involve a capital investment of at least $1 million
- create at least 50 new jobs
- add at least 20,000 square feet of new floor area
Chicago kept its number 2 spot in the metropolitan areas category for 2012.
