UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS)- Union County Sheriff Department says there was a wreck on I-57 southbound at the 34 mile marker.

It left one truck on its side and diesel spilled on the road.

According to Illinois State Police, a white 2009 semi driven by 44-year-old Edward Lee Burdick from Colderwater, Mich. was going southbound on I-57 and an orange 2007 dump truck driven by 40-year-old Britton Lee Roberts from Anna was sitting behind a road crew while they fixed the road.

ISP says the semi thought the dump truck was moving and crashed into the rear of the dump truck. They say the impact caused significant damage to both and the dump truck rolled over.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Lee was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and an expired medical card.

ISP says there was no lane blockage and a diesel spill on the road has been cleaned up.

Easter Sunday at Bald Knob Cross

Easter Sunday at Bald Knob Cross

UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS)- As a heavy fog swirled around the base of the Bald Knob Cross the faithful began to gather for a decades old tradition.

For the past 77 years Easter Sunday has been observed at the Bald Knob Cross.

And this year's celebration also marked another milestone in the history of the cross, it's been standing now for 50 years.

"Bald Knob Cross has been a place that has really united people," said D. W. Presley Chairman, Bald Knob Cross of Peace. "That's the history behind it's 77 years since the first annual Easter Sunday Sunrise Service, people coming together in a united worship."

As the skies begin to brighten the bell tolled as it has for the past 30 years, and the service began.

Hundreds bowed their heads for the opening prayer. And then they all began to sing, The Old Rugged Cross.
