Plaque honoring soldier re-dedicated in Anna

ANNA, IL (KFVS) - More than 200 people came out over the weekend for the re-dedication of Anna's tribute to fallen soldiers.

The tribute bears the names of 38 soldiers from Anna or Jonesboro who lost their lives serving in the military.

The monument, first dedicated some time before the Korean War, was found in a storage area at the former American Legion building last year.

The monument received a little tender loving care and made its way to its new home at the Anna Veteran's Home.

"Pass on to their children and grandchildren that these men here gave their lives," said Jerry Hunter with American Legion Post 344. "Freedom didn't come cheap. It came with a great sacrifice."

Thirty-eight soldier's names now grace the plaque and more could be added.
