Last day of registration for Cobden School Dist.

COBDEN, IL (KFVS) - The last day for registration in the Cobden School District will be Wednesday, August 10.

Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

First day of classes will be August 16.

Rotary Club golf scramble

ANNA-JONESBORO, IL (KFVS) - The Anna-Jonesboro Rotary Club will have a golf scramble on Friday, July 15.

The golf scramble will be at the Union County Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The two-person Par Three Scramble includes 18 holes. Registration will start at 11:30 a.m. and there will be a free lunch at noon. Tee off starts at 1 p.m.

The registration fee is $50 per person or $100 per team and that includes green fees and carts.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third flight winners and runners-up.

P.A.S.T. golf scramble

ANNA, IL (KFVS) - P.A.S.T. will host a Links for Lincoln and Commemoration of Union County Civil War sites golf scramble on Friday, July 8.

The scramble will be from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Union County Country Club in Anna, Ill.

It will cost $60 per person to make your own foursome or individuals will be matched.

Along with lunch there will be several raffles and prized given out throughout the day.

Cobden man wins gold medal in the Men's Olympic Recurve competition

Cobden man wins gold medal in the Men's Olympic Recurve competition

COBDEN, IL (KFVS) - A Cobden man won the gold medal in the Men's Olympic Recurve competition.

Forrest Blakley was the single archer representing Shawnee Community College at the competition. It was held in May at the U.S. Intercollegiate Archery Championships in Harrisburg, Virginia.

Blakley beat out competitors from Penn State, Texas A & M, University of California at San Diego and the University of California at Berkley in the quarterly and semi final rounds to secure the national championship.

The three-day championship featured 249 archers representing 37 colleges and universities.

Blakley became interested in archery 10 years ago and since then he has traveled all over the country and internationally, competing and winning in both individual and team recurve events.

He is a sophomore at Shawnee Community College studying in the Associate of Arts Degree program.

Anna School Dist. offers volleyball camp

ANNA, IL (KFVS) - The Anna School District 37 is holding a volleyball camp June 6-10.

The camp will be at AJ High School.

Girls entering in the third through fifth grades will have camp from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and girls entering in grades sixth through eigth will participate in the camp from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
